August 2022

A large percentage of our new work these days comes from current or former clients. That is something we take great pride in -- our clients are happy with our work and our service, and often return for more work and/or refer us to friends, family, and colleagues. We are thrilled to have many great reviews and testimonials (like the one below) and it would be tremendously valuable for our business if you would be willing to take two minutes and submit a review on Google, or Facebook, or Yelp. Thank you!

Over the past 15 years we have developed Tracker, an amazing software tool which is exclusive to our firm and is now patent pending! Simply put, Tracker is EMP&A's secret weapon which allows us to file and manage several hundred trademark filings each year. Find out what makes Tracker so special here.

Erik's Top Trademark Tip

When you register your trademark with the USPTO, you get protection in all 50 states. However, there are instances where state trademark protection may make sense. Erik clarifies these instances in this video.

The Trademark Modernization Act (TMA), passed by Congress in December 2020 as part of the enormous Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, took effect December 18, 2021. Erik breaks down key elements of the TMA, such as Ex Parte Challenges and shorter Office Action response times here.

This month marks one year since Tom Caulfield and Chelsea Kaminski joined EMP&A as Associate Attorneys. We are so happy to have these amazing team members and look forward to their continued success! Happy Work-iversary, Tom and Chelsea!
