I have always wanted to write a scholarly piece about the law of parody and tribute bands. The band names generally are not-so-subtle references to the artists whose songs they cover. Alas, this is not the scholarly piece, which will have to wait for some other time.

This is just a list of some fantastic cover band names (click links for USPTO records):

LIVIN’ ON A PRAYER (BON JOVI)

BRUCE IN THE U.S.A. (SPRINGSTEEN)

DARK STAR ORCHESTRA (GRATEFUL DEAD)

RUBBER SOUL (THE BEATLES)

LEZ ZEPPELIN (LED ZEPPELIN)

NOVEMBER RAIN (GUNS N’ ROSES)

FAN HALEN (VAN HALEN)

YELLOW DUBMARINE (reggae infused Beatles)

BAD FISH (Sublime)

PINK FRAUD (PINK FLOYD)

COVERBOY (loverboy)

GREENISH DAY (Green Day)

PRUDAS JEIST (Judas Priest)

OASISN’T (Oasis)

NO WAY SIS (OASIS)

ARE WE THEM (REM)

THE SOFT PARADE (DOORS)

MAN IN THE MIRROR (MJ)

2U (U2)

THE IRON MAIDENS (IRON MAIDEN)

DREAD ZEPPELIN (LED ZEPPELIN)

PURPLE REIGN (PRINCE) (pending USPTO application)

BJORN AGAIN (ABBA)

What is your favorite cover band name?  Iron Maidens and Fan Halen are the most creative in my opinion.
