Simple machines have always fascinated me. Levers, pulleys, gears, and the like have been around for centuries or more. And with good reason, they are tremendously useful.

A registered trademark can act like a pulley or level: it does the heavy lifting of trademark enforcement by placing the mark in the USPTO records, and by making any infringement more likely to be resolved quickly and favorably.
