I received a call from a client this morning who has been evacuated since last week due to Hurricane Sandy.  He had a deadline during that time period.

Wisely, the USPTO has issued relief to applicant’s and registrant impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  For instructions for those impacted, including late filing after deadlines have passed and requesting waiver of the petition fee, see USPTO trademark announcement:

Customers Impacted By Hurricane Sandy

Thanks to the USPTO for addressing this situation rapidly and effectively for those affected – who clearly have concerns right now which are far greater than their trademark deadlines.

If anyone knows of similar measure for patent deadlines from the USPTO, please let me know and I will post them as well.

For more details about Hurricane recovery and preparedness, see FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).
