  1. Greetings from Toledo, Ohio. I recently subscribed to your Blog and I recently became the chair of our humble Toledo Bar Association Intellectual Property Committee. In a planning meeting this past summer, it was decided that our committee would try to reach out to the local arts community to offer guidance and suggestions for artists who want to learn about, and learn how to pro-actively protect, their IP rights. I remember seeing this post and thinking that our idea wasn’t novel. I also thought that Mr. Pelton might be willing to share with me his reflections on his roundtable discussion. Kudos to you for reaching out to your local arts community. Any thoughts or suggestions you might be willing to share about the experience would be very much appreciated. Thank you for reading.

    • Dave, thanks for your comment. I think that intellectual property law is often overlooked, ignored or misunderstood by artists. They think it may impede their creativity, without realizing that it is critical to ensure they receive the benefits from their work. The discuss I held was quite useful I hope to those who attended. I suggest leaving lots of time for questions. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
